Anthony McLean has spent his career working in the human professions. Looking for a better way to help business, government and not for profits apply the psychology of influence and persuasion he recently founded the Australian based Social Influence Consulting Group.
Anthony is an acclaimed speaker, trainer consultant and author with an edge. Although having worked and consulted in the private sector for almost a decade he was a decorated police officer working in high profile areas such as Homicide Investigation and Counter Terrorism. Combining his tertiary qualifications in criminology and intelligence he practically applied the psychology of influence and persuasion on a daily basis in a manner that most would never imagine.
This dynamic and consequence-driven environment made Anthony’s transition into the private sector a raging success. Anthony knows there’s an easy way and a hard way to deal with people and it’s this realization that allows him to achieve the fantastic results he does.
In Australia and New Zealand Anthony has worked with and taught leaders from Westpac, Suncorp, St George, ANZ, NAB, NRMA, KPMG, IBM, PPR, Morgan Stanley, Fujitsu, UXC, Coffey, Boeing, Caltex, Smith-Nephew, WB Financial, the Australia Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), Australian Federal Police (AFP), AUSTRAC and many more (full list on application).

“In my role as a professional company director on more than a dozen boards, I regularly confront situations requiring the skills of influence and persuasion. Prior to undertaking the Principles of Persuasion course the outcomes were often more “hit & miss” than I would have liked. I genuinely struggled to understand why sometimes I had better outcomes than others. This was until the Principles of Persuasion was explained to me in an engaging and innovative workshop. I now understand that some of the things that are a natural strength for me and others that I took for granted can be deliberately and ethically applied to any personal interactions for a mutually beneficial outcome. I would recommend the Principles of Persuasion to anyone who wants to hear “yes” more often.”
– Murray Rankin, Professional Director & Business Consultant, Canberra
“I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to improve the way they communicate. Implementing the lessons from this workshop will generate positive results in terms of persuasion.”
– Michael Pooley – Group Director, PPR, Sydney
“An outstanding workshop. I have learnt so much that I will apply to persuading people and organisations to work with me in a win/win capacity in the future.”
– Mary-Anne Waldren – CEO, MAW Action, Canberra
“I would like to thank New Intelligence for conducting the Principles of Persuasion workshop. It was the best course I have taken. Everything I learnt from this course I can apply to my professional life. As the founder and Executive Director of a non-profit organisation, I constantly have to influence and persuade people to support our organisation. The course helped me understand that we all have moments of influence, and unlocked very effective ways of influencing people ethically. The course opened my eyes to moments in my professional life where I had significant moments of influence and missed the opportunity. I have taken away with me tools I can apply to my professional life forever and I look forward to applying what I learnt from this course. Thank you to the New Intelligence team for putting together this great course, and enriching my knowledge.”
– Fadzai Matambanadzo, Founder and Executive Director, The African Dream Benefit, Perth
“It has become a common mantra that “your people” are the key to the success of an organisation. But how do you ethically engage your people to have them fulfil the mission and vision? The Principles of Persuasion workshop offers you perspectives and distinct tools to influence others, very elegantly.
In my work as a consultant, these skills have become a daily part of my work. In all my negotiation work, there has yet to be a time where this approach has not attained the mission my clients have defined for themselves. This is one fun course which opens your mind up to new perspectives, every session.”
– Peter Singer, Negotiator – Director, BOND National, Melbourne
