What's the difference between influence and manipulation?
A: The research led Dr. Cialdini to the universal six principles of influence. To help ensure that changing others’ behavior is effective and long-lasting, it is imperative to use these powerful principles ethically.
What's the difference between being in authority and an authority?
A: Someone who is in authority has a title, ranking, or the trappings of authority. But, someone who is an authority is more persuasive because they have superior knowledge, experience or expertise in a specific area.
How long has Dr. Cialdini been doing research on Influence?
A: Dr. Cialdini has been publishing original research in peer-reviewed scientific journals for almost forty years. Instead of just doing research in the lab, Dr. Cialdini has spent his career doing research in the field, in real life situations.
What does the CMCT process encompass?
A: The CMCT certification breaks down into two equally important parts; the training and the audited POP workshop. The training is four days of intensive learning during which Dr. Cialdini teaches the lion share. The audited POP workshop is the first POP workshop the CMCT facilitates while an IAW Auditor observes.
Is it required to participate in a POP workshop before applying for the CMCT training?
A: Although attending a POP workshop is not a prerequisite to the CMCT training, it is highly recommended.
Once I am a CMCT trainer, what does that allow me to do?
A: Only fully certified CMCTs are endorsed by Dr. Cialdini to teach his POP workshop, as well as permitted to purchase the accompanying copywritten materials. CMCTs are notified of new research, special events, new publications, media and special marketing tools.
Do I need to have a Ph.D to be accepted in the CMCT training?
A: A Ph.D is not required, but the ability to understand and effectively communicate the Science of Influence. Equally important is the ability to use the six principles to market and sell the POP workshop in order to educate others on the ethical message of these principles.
Once certified as a CMCT, will I be required to teach a specific number of POP workshops annually?
A: CMCTs have a requirement of teaching a minimum of four POP workshops a year.
Who should apply to become a CMCT?
A: Only those who have the energy, capacity, understanding and ability to teach and sell a minimum of four POP workshop classes a year should apply.

How are the sales leads distributed that IAW receives?
A: Lead distribution is based on which CMCT is the most productive, familiar with the client's industry, availability, client preference, geography, and experience.
Will IAW help me with customization within the POP workshop?
A: IAW will assist with POP workshop customization, however it is up to the CMCT to contract the client direct and familiarize themselves with the client’s influencing issues. Typically, Dr. Gregory Neidert, our Director of Training assists our CMCTs with POP workshop customization.
How many students are allowed in each Cialdini Method Certified Training (CMCT) class?
A: We accept a maximum of six CMCT candidates per class.
What's the difference between Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion and Influence: Science and Practice?
A: Although both books are based on Dr. Cialdini's years of research into the Six Principles of Influence, Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion is an older edition. There are more updated references, more show more/less recent examples and more current stories in Influence: Science & Practice. Also, there is more research in Influence: Science and Practice. Generally, Influence: Science and Practice is a more complete discussion of the topic. We do not recommend purchasing both books.
What’s the difference between the Influence video DVD and the Influence audio CD?
A: Dr. Cialdini delivers a variety of programs; 90 minutes or less (keynote), a half day (3 hours or less) or a full day (six hours or less).Both the video DVD and the audio CD are presented by Dr. Cialdini for show more/less a business audience. The video DVD is of a live presentation and the audio CD was produced in a studio without an audience. Both run approximately 90 minutes. They have much of the same information on them based on the ethical business applications of the Six Principles of Influence. If you prefer to get your information while driving, we definitely suggest you get the audio CD.

Is the audio CD Dr. Cialdini’s entire book on CD?
A: No — The Influence audio CD is a 90-minute in-studio presentation given by Dr. Cialdini. During this talk, he describes the six principles of influence and gives scientific examples. |
